This smashed strawberry iced matcha uses the floral sweetness of strawberries to complement the nutty soy milk and earthy flavour of matcha.
This recipe is made in partnership with Earth’s Own. I only work with brands I know, use, and love and Earth’s Own is a longtime favourite in this household!
I’ve been seeing these beautiful cafe videos in Korea where people can get decadent drinks that look so delicious. But alas, are rarely vegan or realistic for me in this season of toddler mom life. So as per usual, I have to m.ake some for myself.
Today I’m using Earth’s Own Soy Barista to create a beautiful cold foam on this smashed strawberry iced matcha. It will make this drink feel like you’re in a fancy cafe. This is typically my go to for steamed milk in my espresso-based drinks, but it works really great for cold foam here!
I’m using a high quality ceremonial grade matcha, but use whatever unsweetened matcha powder you enjoy the taste of. Sweeten to your liking, but I macerated strawberries (helped with some aggressive mashing because I don’t have time to wait) to add a subtle sweetness.
The flavours of matcha, strawberries, and soy mix so perfectly together to make this smashed strawberry iced matcha. If you prefer oat milk over soy, definitely feel free to swap. I think oat also goes really well with matcha and strawberries. This strawberry iced matcha is one of my go-to morning beverages because it’s so easy to put together, and Bean will eat the smashed strawberries by the spoonful.
For a toddler-friendly version of this drink, I just serve the strawberries with the cold foamed milk for Bean. This and our sesame lattes are a fave for my kid!

Smashed Strawberry Iced Matcha
Equipment
- Milk frother With a cold froth option
- Matcha whisk
Ingredients
- 4 strawberries diced
- 1.5 tsp white granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup Earth's Own Barista Soy
- 1 tsp matcha powder ceremonial grade
- 1/4 cup boiling water
Instructions
- In your serving glass, add diced strawberries and granulated sugar. You can give it a quick mix and let sit for 5 minutes before smashing, or you can just smash immediately with the end of a rolling pin if you’re impatient like me.
- In a milk frother (or a clean french press), foam your plant milk using the cold froth setting (if using a french press, just push the filter up and down until foamy).
- Prepare the matcha in a separate small bowl by whisking together 1 tsp matcha powder and 1/4 cup water. Whisk vigorously in a zig zag motion until foamy and matcha is dissolved in the water.
- Add 1/2 cup ice to your glass, then pour the cold frothed milk over ice.
- Add prepared matcha on top, and serve with a wide straw to enjoy the smashed strawberries
